NECTAR POETRY

NECTAR POETRY is an online mini poetry journal, presented by hummingbird magazine. this project grew out of a necessity to create space for BIPOC poets. poetry and music are two currents in the same river, so we are so glad to have found a lovely home here with our friends at hummingbird.

ISSUE TWO featured artist: ADELA BURAK (Adela Burak is a Denver based artist and poet. They are interested in the intersection of expressive arts and the mental health field. Currently, Adela is in graduate school at CU Denver studying to become a licensed counselor.)

(interpret this as widely as you’d like. you may look to one word for inspiration, or consider them as a sequence)


Submit 1-3 unpublished poems on any subject in any style!

We especially encourage BIPOC and QT poets to submit — your work will take priority in our consideration. However, we still welcome all work however you identify.

You should receive a response within 7-10 days of submission. Please reach out if you have not heard back by then!

ONE submission per reading period.

Simultaneous submissions welcome. Please notify us immediately of publication elsewhere.


There is NO submission fee. You are welcome to submit, free-of-charge. BUT! For a donation of at least $5.00, we will provide feedback on your submission.

**We ask that you do not publish any accepted poems elsewhere before they appear in NECTAR POETRY. Upon acceptance, we own the rights to the accepted poems. All rights revert back to the author upon publication. If your poem is published elsewhere (e.g. chapbooks, anthologies) in the future, we kindly request that you credit NECTAR POETRY for initial publication (also let us know so we can give you a proper congratulations!).
